How to be a Herondale

Have you ever wondered if you have what it takes be a member of the glorious demon- fighting Herondales? Well, in this article are the main elements it takes to be one of the duck-fearing legends.
APPEARANCE:
First thing is, you need to have either black or golden hair, depending on what line you are from. The hair is what distinguishes a normal Shadowhunter from a Herondale.
Next, the eyes. The eyes are one of the most recognizable features of the Herondale family. Kit has bright blue eyes described as being the color of a summer sky while Will Herondale has dark blue eyes described as being the color of violets and the sky in Hell. Jace's eyes are a pale yellow and James' are a dark gold. If you see someone with gold eyes, it’s probably a Herondale descending from James.
BEHAVIORS:
Most of the Herondales that we have met in TSC have had a brilliantly sarcastic sense of humor. This is another part of the Herondales that isolated them from other Shadowhunters. It is very condescending, and their jokes can be... not always the best to say the least. Male Herondales also often consider themselves extremely handsome, and often say that to everyone they meet.
Herondales also have a specific gait with a lot of swagger and they often walk with a sense of purpose. It can be quite annoying to some people (cough Gabriel Lightwood and Simon Lovelace cough) but it just adds to their charm.
Last but not least, arguably the most important trait, is their anatidaephobia, also known as their fear of ducks. Most Herondales have an extremely irrational fear of ducks. “Bloodthirsty little beasts," they call them. No one actually knows why they are so terrified of them but nevertheless, the Herondale family lives in worry. Most people are not scared of ducks, and if you see someone who is, it means that they are positively a Herondale.
The Herondales are a very eccentric family, with all of their quirky traits. But I admit, they are a lovable one.
You got to love Herondales
